Sobixel AI – 3D Light Intraoral Scanner with Artificial Intelligence.
Together with colleagues from the Sobixel AI startup, we are launching a new direction — developing 3D scanners and artificial intelligence for diagnosing oral diseases.

1.
Introduction.
The newly established center will gain all the competencies needed to implement this ambitious project: Sobixel colleagues already have experience in creating video scanners, while we will handle the development of user applications and digital diagnostic tools.
The Sobixel scanner uses continuous 3D video capture to analyze teeth and gums in real time. Unlike traditional frame-by-frame scanners, it generates a live 3D model from a video stream, providing high-resolution detail of tooth surfaces, soft tissues, and occlusion. This technology speeds up scanning, improves accuracy, and enhances the dentist’s workflow.
2.
Artificial Intelligence.
After capturing high-resolution video, the scanner instantly converts it into a 3D model, and the artificial intelligence immediately analyzes the teeth for surface anomalies, marks their location, and assesses the risk of specific diseases. If a problem is detected, the AI adds it to the patient’s record on a graphical chart and attaches several frames for verification. Sobixel AI can automatically schedule the patient for an appointment without clinic staff involvement if the visit is deemed necessary.

3.
Target Users.
The scanner is designed for professional dental communities and patients, allowing quick assessment of oral health and data transfer to the treating dentist. Models for dentists will differ in scanner specifications. Patients will receive a mobile app with the scanner that allows video storage and direct upload of scan results to our cloud-based dental practice management software.
What is Sobixel — Word Etymology:
We preserved the original scanner brand name “Sobixel,” derived from the Russian word “Sobakel” (So-bak-Hel) — a diminutive form of “dog.” “A Sobixel guarding your mouth” sounds reliable and symbolic.😄

Key Scanner Specifications.
/Technical Insights – Sobixel/
Scanner Head: spherical, diameter ~1.5–1.75 cm.
Mounting: tube housing the battery, length ~12–15 cm, diameter ~2,25-2,5 cm.
Head-to-tube Connection: rigid, easily replaceable.
Body: water-resistant, ergonomically designed for use.
/Cameras/
The scanner has four cameras: three side cameras at the triangle vertices and one central camera. Each camera has a 10 MP resolution and a frame rate of 30–60 FPS. Side cameras have a 60–90° field of view, the central camera 45–60°. CMOS sensors with high sensitivity and low noise are used. Video output is available in RAW or minimally compressed format. The central camera provides precise frontal view, while side cameras cover the central area and expand the 3D video/model field.
